Its more than thirty years of experience is easy to see when looking at this system. Today, a hotel lock is not only what keeps the guest room door closed, but also a vital part of a busy hotel.
As just one part of the technology, it performs its job flawlessly at every moment, through the repeated use of guests, which is effective and vital to your business. The lock has passed the prestigious ANSI 156.25 Grade 1 electronic lock test, both mechanically and electronically. The system is designed so that your staff can use it easily and your hotel remains secure.
Why RFID
RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) allows ALV2 locks to read and encode guest and staff cards contactlessly. When the card is brought within half an inch of the reader, the lock is unlocked. This technology has many advantages over magnetic stripe and smart card systems.
Working with Smartphones via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE)
Thanks to Bluetooth Low Energy, the ALV2 electronic card lock system can be controlled with Bluetooth-enabled smartphones. In hotels, guests can open their room doors with their smartphones.
Ease of Use: The intuitive aspects of the ALV2 are excellent. Guests of all ages can unlock the lock by bringing the card near it from any direction, without needing to insert or swipe the card.
Read and Write: When guest cards are used to unlock a lock, they can be read and encoded again.
Staff Cards: Each time a staff card unlocks the lock, various information is added to the card. This information includes which room was opened and when, and the battery level of each lock.
Master Card Structure: The master card structure for your staff can be configured to meet your business requirements using RFID cards. Each staff member can be given a card that provides access only to the areas they require. The master plan, rooms to be opened and timing can be re-encoded onto the card at any time as you wish, without any programming of the locks.
Batteries: The ALV2 lock uses only four standard alkaline batteries. As with all systems, the power of these batteries will eventually decline. There are 3 different methods to alert your staff about this upcoming issue on the ALV2 lock. The first is the green light flashing when your staff opens the lock using a card. Second, if this is not sufficient, an audible warning can be enabled from the lock program. In this case, a "beep" sound is heard. The third is that when staff open the door with a card, the ALV2 lock writes the low-battery information onto the card. This data can be read at any time. If the card is read at the end of the day, it can be seen which locks have low battery levels.
Auditable Security: The ALV2 is auditable in every respect; when the front desk system is audited, it can be seen which staff member made which guest card or staff card. Locks retain the last 600 transactions, and staff cards retain the last 140 transactions. The system is designed to keep security and staff control at the highest level in your business.
Upgrade Path: Whether your business is large or small, low cost is still important when moving to a new lock system, and as Miwa we take this seriously. With this in mind, we can upgrade existing AL5H locks without having to replace everything because of technological advances, by directly applying the new ALV2 P type exterior escutcheon in place of the old lock's exterior escutcheon.
Upgrading from the AL5H model to the ALV2 P model can be done by replacing only the exterior escutcheon and the reader.
